Retraction, and 0.1 is my friend!
In case my sixth form maths teacher was somehow still wondering how I managed to fail math, he can rest assured things haven't changed much in the past 15 years; remember the zeros, Rachel!
Although mildly hesitant about what I said in my last blog, no records were broken here. The lowest white blood cell count my doctor has seen is 0.01 (not 0.1, as was incorrectly reported). I'm aware that I could've just amended the post, but I didn't think that was appropriate given the song and dance I made about 0.05 being 'record-breaking'! Sorry for misleading, team. xx
The lowest that my white blood cell count has been recorded at is 0.04. Dr Loh says that there is little difference between 0.05 - 0.01 (in terms of an effective depletion for this treatment). There were two 0.04 readings, on consecutive days (Sunday and Monday), which means that there was probably a time within the 24 hours between these two readings where I may have been as low as 0.03 or .02. That's because within that time the levels would have dropped a little further, but then the stem cells will have started producing new (hopefully not naughty!) white blood cells. And...
Good news! I've turned a corner, this morning my white blood count is up to 0.1! A 150% increase from yesterday (I realise the irony of providing a percentage, given my earlier comments about math)! This is more than what Dr Loh expected, she thought I'd probably be about 0.08 today.
And things will move quickly; my count needs to be above 1 to be allowed to go home to the apartment, and Dr Loh said that I may be able to go home on Thursday or Friday! This is amazing news; that is much sooner than I expected! Of course that's barring any complications, like an infection, but this news has really made my day!
And I'm feeling good, as I think I said last time. I'm now eating full meals, no nausea. The energy is coming back 🙂
So yes! Good! ZJ must also be feeling good after his cat yoga on Sunday (look at his back foot!):
Rach xx
